This circuit visits the falls at the Linn of Tummel as the first stage of a loop around the wooded banks of Loch Faskally. The route can easily be extended by starting from Pitlochry or Killiecrankie.

The route can be extended as a complete circuit of the loch from Pitlochry by making a figure-of-8 with the Loch Faskally circuit. As a single walk, however, it begins from the River Garry bridge on the B8019. Begin by descending the steep flight of steps next to the bridge. A path leads left at the bottom and reaches a junction; turn right here (signed Pitlochry). The path now passes under the road bridge - note the cage from which bungee-jumpers leap on summer weekends.
Keep left when the path forks; it runs alongside a field and then comes alongside the loch. Ascend a flight of steps and continue on the main path through the woods, ignoring a smaller path off to the left. When the path reaches another junction by the corner of a fence, detour down to the left to visit the Linn of Tummel. The path reaches the banks of the River Tummel by a monument; go right here over the footbridge to view the falls.
Return to the main path and follow it as it continues up the glen - soon giving more views over the tumbling river. Pass through a gate and continue on the path straight ahead. Eventually it reaches the Coronation Bridge - a suspension footbridge over the Tummel. Cross this and follow the path left on the far side, leading up to a minor road.
Turn left along the road. Though hard underfoot, traffic is light on the tarmac. There are more views over the river, and later across the loch to Faskally House and up Glen Garry towards Beinn a' Ghlo. Further on the road passes the Clunie Arch at the entrance to the Clunie Power Station - a memorial to workers killed during the construction of pipelines as part of the massive hydro scheme here in the 1940s.
Continue along the road for some distance until it approaches the bridge carrying the busy A9. Turn left before this to instead cross the arched footbridge over Loch Tummel, then on the far side turn left again (signed for Killiecrankie). The path soon passes what was one end of the old bridge before the Tummel was flooded to form the loch.
Keep left at a fork to keep following a path - marked by white marker posts close by the lochside at first. Eventually it cuts more through the woods and passes to the left of a lily-covered lochan - Loch Dunmore. Pass through a gate and bear left here, now following a tarmac lane.
The lane soon comes alongside the loch once more, As the buildings of the Faskally Outdoor Centre are reached, turn left ('Bealach Path, Killiecrankie'). The path runs alongside a fence but soon gives views over the loch to the Clunie Power station. Eventually the path cuts inland and reaches a junction; turn left here to head back down through the trees to the loch.
Soon the route passes beneath the Garry road bridge, and then reaches the footbridge further on. Turn left to cross this, then left on the far side and finally right at a fork to return to the car park at the start.
