Sail Mhòr is the final termination of a long ridge extending from An Teallach. It drops precipitously to Little Loch Broom and has fantastic views along the coast and to the Summer Isles.

The steep flanks permit few alternatives to a final southerly approach. In theory Sail Mhòr could be linked to an ascent of An Teallach, but the buttresses of Sgùrr Ruadh present a barrier to a direct route along the ridge.
